REBEL CAFE

Photo: The Vintage Lisbon

This was my go-to coffee shop when I lived in Lisbon, it is a quiet cafe that is tastefully decorated and has big windows, so there is a lot of natural light. It is also the perfect place to people-watch; the cafe looks out on a famous Lisbon Street Car, so there are always tourists nearby taking pictures. The coffee here is really delicious and the staff is friendly. Every time I went, there were usually three or four other people working online as well.

HEALTHY V.

healthy v restaurant and cafe lisbon portugal

They have nice lighting, great background music, and super friendly staff. This place is more of a restaurant/cafe to come and chat with friends, but the staff was very welcoming when I asked if I could work there. You can stay here for long periods of time and they definitely don’t mind. I prefer working at cafes that have other people working online as well but this is still a great place to check out.

The seating is a bit crowded but if you are sitting on the bench when no one else is there, it is very comfortable.

COPENHAGEN COFFEE LAB & BAKERY – alcântara

There are six other Coffee Labs in Lisbon but this is definitely my favorite. It has a lot more natural light and open space than the other locations. My second favorite location is in Estrela because they also have a good amount of light. I also like the Alcantara location because the neighborhood is cute and it is near LX, which was my favorite area of Lisbon.

DEAR BREAKFAST

Dear Breakfast is not only a great coffee shop for working but also the ultimate Instagram cafe destination. Come here for a delicious brunch, great coffee, and an unbeatable atmosphere. The only downsides are that it can get rather loud and tables fill up fast, especially on the weekends.

COMOBA CAFE

This cafe is a hotspot for digital nomads and expats in Lisbon and it’s one of the most laptop-friendly coffee shops I’ve ever seen. The staff is incredibly sweet, there’s plenty of space, some outlets, and natural lighting. Comoba also offers healthy food, vegetarian and vegan meals, delicious brunch foods, and great coffee. I highly recommend trying their matcha pancakes and chai filthy latte! The downsides are that the seating isn’t very comfortable and the prices are a bit expensive.

CURVA CAFE

Wondering where all the cool people in Lisbon go for coffee? Look no further than Curva Cafe. This contemporary coffee house attracts the best crowd with its amazing coffee and brunch, trendy interior, and events such as pop-up shops and art shows. The wifi is also very fast and it is a quiet space to work (when there aren’t events happening). The only downside for me was the lack of natural lighting.

THE ROYAL RAWNESS

The Royal Rawness is the perfect spot for foodies and coffee snobs; they offer delicious specialty coffee and farm-to-table dishes. While the chairs aren’t too comfortable, there are plenty of seating options and you can almost always find a seat. They close on the weekends and are open 7:30-16:30 during the week; so this is a great spot for grabbing breakfast or lunch while getting a few hours of work done.

DUAL

This dynamic restaurant/cafe/wine bar really has it all. During the day you can work for hours with their free wifi, enjoy tapas or a healthy meal, and by night have a glass of wine at the bar or even attend their karaoke nights. The prices here are normal but be warned that there is a 10 euro minimum consumption if you’re working on your laptop. This is more expensive than other coffee shops but it’s also cheaper than a day pass at a coworking (which ranges from 17-25 euros in Lisbon).

SIMPLI COFFEE

Simpli Coffee has many different locations in Lisbon but the best one for digital nomads is definitely in Picoas. This location has the most seating and lots of natural lighting while the other ones are fairly small and dark. What I love about Simpli is their coffee, window seating, and quiet atmosphere. The cons are that I couldn’t use my charger because my adaptor didn’t fit into their outlets (and there also aren’t many outlets) and the atmosphere feels a bit dead.

CAFE DA GARAGEM

Café da Garagem is a great spot to work while you watch the sunset, if you can look past the fact that they don’t have wifi and the seating isn’t very comfortable. I suggest coming here in the mid-afternoon for a couple of hours of work, then enjoying the sunset with a ginginha (sour cherry liquor in a chocolate shot glass, you have to try it) or tapas.
